WEH and Ethox vacancy - Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ethics and Infectious Disease

Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.

The Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford and the Berman Institute of Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University have together established an exciting new collaborative bioethics research and training programme with support from the Wellcome Trust. The Oxford-Berman Institute Bioethics Partnership has enabled us to create two post-doctoral research positions (one at each Institution) for researchers who are committed to interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration and who have a particular interest in exploring ethical issues at the intersection of global health and infectious disease. We are now seeking applications for the postdoctoral position to be based in Oxford. A key opportunity of the post will be to work in collaboration with colleagues at the Berman Institute within the context of the Oxford-Berman Institute Bioethics Partnership.

The Nuffield Department of Population Health contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, The Ethox Centre is an internationally recognised multidisciplinary bioethics research centre and is a vibrant and intellectually exciting place to work.

As Postdoctoral Fellow in Ethics and Infectious Disease, you will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, carry out collaborative research with colleagues at the Berman Institute and present papers at conferences or public meetings.

To be considered you will hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject, together with relevant experience, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work effectively within the research programme. You will also have previous experience of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
