Call for Applications - Research Fellowships in Biomedical Ethics at University of Zurich


The Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, announces a call for applications for the Stehr-Boldt Fellowships in Biomedical Ethics.

The call is open to junior and senior researchers from any country and discipline who are engaged in research on biomedical ethics, in particular on issues relating to health policy and public health.

Fellowships cover a period between 3 and 12 months and include a stipend to contribute to accommodation and living expenses. A maximum amount of 3'000 Swiss Francs can be allocated in addition to cover travel expenses from and to the country of origin.


Candidates should have at least successfully completed a Master's degree (or equivalent, such as a MD degree), demonstrated academic excellence, and be fluent in spoken and written English.


The applications can be in English or German.

The following documents are required for the application:

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  A letter of application detailing relevant experience, qualifications and interest in biomedical ethics

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  A research proposal of no more than 1'000 words on a topic of biomedical ethics, indicating proposed dates for the fellowship

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Two letters of recommendation (for junior scholars who do not yet hold a doctoral degree)

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Recent curriculum vitae including a publication list

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  A writing sample (maximum 2'000 words. For example, extracts from dissertation, essay paper, policy paper, etc.).

Deadline for applications: January 30, 2020 (for fellowships starting in September 2020)
